How to Choose Madrasa Management Software

If you run a madrasa and have started looking at software, you have probably noticed two kinds of products: general school systems built for ordinary K-12 schools, and a smaller group built for Islamic education. Here is how to tell which will actually fit.

Start with how your madrasa is organized

A general school system assumes grade levels, homerooms, and one report card format. A madrasa often runs a Maktab, a Hifz program, and an Alim or Aalima program side by side, each with different teachers, schedules, and ways of measuring progress. Ask any vendor to show you how each of your programs would be set up, using your real class names.

Questions worth asking every vendor

  • Can each program have its own curriculum and report card? A Hifz report looks nothing like an Alim-year report.
  • How do teachers use it? Ask to see exactly what a teacher does to take attendance and enter grades.
  • What does it cost per student, and what is included? Check whether support, setup, and the parent-facing features cost extra.
  • Is there a free period long enough to finish a full term? A two-week trial is rarely enough to judge school software.
  • Who helps you set it up? Many madrasas are run by a small team with no spare hours.
  • Where is student data stored, and who can see it? You are holding children’s records. Ask for the privacy policy.
  • Can you export your data if you ever leave?

General school software or Islamic school software?

General systems are often mature and feature-rich, and a full-time Islamic school following a state curriculum may be well served by one. For part-time programs, Hifz, and Alim/Aalima studies, software designed around those programs usually needs far less bending to fit.

Do not overlook the cost of doing nothing

The real alternative for most madrasas is not another product. It is spreadsheets, paper attendance, and group messages. That costs nothing in fees and a great deal in volunteer hours and lost information.

Where Taleem fits

Taleem is madrasa management software built around Maktab, Hifz, and Alim/Aalima programs, with curriculum, attendance, grades, report cards, and a teacher portal. The software is free for your first year, then $0.50 per child per month. If you want our team to set everything up and help with collecting tuition, the Software + Support plan is $3 per child per month. Request a demo and bring your real class list.
